Just Sensors ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Just Sensors is designed with privacy as a core principle:
- All sensor data is processed entirely on your device
- No data is transmitted to external servers
- No user accounts are required
- No analytics or tracking is performed
- No advertising SDKs are included
Sensor Data
The app accesses various device sensors to display real-time data to you. This includes:
- Motion sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, pedometer
- Location: GPS coordinates, altitude, speed, heading (only when you grant permission)
- Audio: Microphone sound levels (only when you grant permission)
- Camera: Ambient light level estimation (only when you grant permission)
- AR sensors: LiDAR depth data and face tracking (on supported devices, with permission)
- Device state: Battery level, screen brightness, device orientation, proximity
- NFC: NFC tag reading (only when you initiate a scan)
- Bluetooth: Nearby Bluetooth Low Energy device scanning (only when you grant permission)
All of this data remains on your device and is never shared with us or any third parties.
TrueDepth Camera and Face Data
Just Sensors includes a Face Tracking feature that uses Apple's TrueDepth camera and ARKit framework on supported devices (iPhone X and later with Face ID, iPad Pro with Face ID). This section specifically addresses how we handle facial data in compliance with Apple's guidelines.
What data is collected:
- The Face Tracking feature accesses the TrueDepth camera to detect facial geometry and expressions in real-time
- This includes facial landmark positions and blend shape coefficients (expressions like smile, blink, eyebrow raise, etc.)
- The data is used solely to display a real-time face mesh visualization on your screen
How the data is used:
- Face data is processed entirely on your device in real-time
- The data is used only to render visual feedback showing detected facial features
- Face data is NOT used to identify you or any individual
- Face data is NOT used for authentication purposes
- Face data is NOT used for advertising or marketing
Data sharing:
- Face data is NEVER transmitted off your device
- Face data is NEVER shared with us, third parties, or any external services
- Face data is NEVER sold to data brokers or advertisers
- No network requests are made when using the Face Tracking feature
Data retention:
- Face data exists only in real-time while the Face Tracking feature is active
- When you leave the Face Tracking screen or close the app, all face data is immediately discarded
- Face data is NOT stored, saved, or cached on your device
- If you choose to record a Face Tracking session, only numerical blend shape values are saved (no images or facial geometry)
Your control:
- The Face Tracking feature requires your explicit action to activate (tapping the Face Tracking sensor card)
- You can stop face tracking at any time by leaving the screen
- The feature is only available on devices with TrueDepth camera hardware
- The app does not access Face ID or any biometric authentication data
LiDAR and Depth Data
Just Sensors includes a LiDAR Scanner feature on supported devices (iPhone 12 Pro and later, iPad Pro 2020 and later). This section addresses how we handle depth sensing data.
What data is collected:
- The LiDAR feature uses the device's depth sensor to measure distances to nearby surfaces
- This includes depth maps and point-to-point distance measurements
- The data is used solely to display real-time depth visualizations
How the data is used:
- Depth data is processed entirely on your device
- The data is used only to show distance measurements and depth visualizations
- Depth data is NOT used to create 3D models of your environment for any other purpose
- Depth data is NOT used to identify or track individuals
Data sharing and retention:
- Depth data is NEVER transmitted off your device
- Depth data exists only while the LiDAR feature is active
- When you leave the LiDAR screen, all depth data is immediately discarded
- If you record a LiDAR session, only distance values are saved (no depth maps or images)
Bluetooth Data
The Bluetooth Scanner feature detects nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. This section explains how we handle Bluetooth-related data.
What data is collected:
- Device names (if advertised by the BLE device)
- Signal strength (RSSI) values
- Manufacturer identifiers and service UUIDs
- Connection state information
How the data is used:
- Bluetooth data is processed entirely on your device
- Manufacturer names are looked up locally using official Bluetooth SIG assigned numbers (bundled with the app)
- No network requests are made for Bluetooth device identification
- The data is used only to display nearby devices to you
Data sharing and retention:
- Bluetooth scan data is NEVER transmitted off your device
- Scan results exist only while the Bluetooth Scanner is active
- When you leave the Bluetooth screen, all scan data is discarded
- We do not track, log, or store information about Bluetooth devices you encounter
Data Storage
When you record sensor sessions, the data is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. You have full control over this data:
- Export recordings to CSV or JSON format
- Share files via iOS share sheet to Files, email, or other apps
- Delete recordings at any time from within the app
Uninstalling the app will remove all stored data.
Your Rights and Data Deletion
Since Just Sensors does not collect or store any personal data on external servers, traditional data access requests do not apply. However, you have full control over any data stored locally on your device:
To delete your recorded sessions:
- Open the app and tap the clipboard icon to view recordings
- Swipe left on any recording and tap Delete
- Or delete all data by uninstalling the app
To revoke permissions:
- Open iOS Settings → Just Sensors
- Disable any permissions you wish to revoke
For users in the European Union (GDPR): Since we do not collect, process, or store any personal data, the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation are satisfied by design. No data controller or processor relationship exists because no personal data leaves your device.
For users in California (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information. The California Consumer Privacy Act rights to know, delete, and opt-out are satisfied because no personal data is collected in the first place.
Permissions
The app requests permissions only when needed to access specific sensors:
- Motion & Fitness: Required for accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and pedometer data
- Location (When In Use): Required for GPS coordinates and compass heading
- Microphone: Required for sound level metering and waveform display
- Camera: Required for ambient light estimation via camera exposure
- NFC: Required for reading NFC tags and NDEF data
- Bluetooth: Required for scanning nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices
You can revoke any permission at any time through iOS Settings. The app will gracefully handle missing permissions and indicate which sensors are unavailable.
Children's Privacy
Just Sensors does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The app is suitable for all ages as an educational tool.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
